Tab reinterprets and modernizes the style of the wall sconce—those old-fashioned wall lamps that were used to light up the house in the evening with candles. However, this is by no means a revival of the Baroque or Rococo styles—Tab features lines that are, to say the least, understated and contemporary. The design centers on a vertical, matte black steel backing plate that serves as the mounting base (installation takes an average of 15 minutes) and houses a burner compartment at the bottom.
The burner housing is clad with a steel sheet around its perimeter and topped with a tempered glass fire-resistant screen.
More decorative than heating
In terms of performance, the Tab delivers 1.4 kW. That’s actually quite low—but it’s typical for a fireplace with a round burner. You’ll want to choose a model like this when you’re looking for something more decorative than a heat source—you could just as easily use two Tab units: which would provide 2,800 watts—a perfectly adequate amount to add 4 to 5 degrees to a standard-sized living room. When used in tandem, the small combustion unit’s runtime is extended to 6 hours and 30 minutes despite a tank holding only 1½ liters: Tab is therefore quite economical in terms of fuel consumption.
